PRIOR TO PITTSBURGH: Matt Denzel returns to the Pitt men's soccer team after he competed for the Panthers during the 2002 season.
HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated in 2000 from Central York High School in York, Pa....concluded four-year varsity career with 26 goals and 34 assists...selected the Division I Player of the Year and named an All-State after scoring 13 goals and finishing with nine assists as a senior...led Central York to a 14-0 record, 2002 Division I championship and Carlisle Tournament title as a senior...two-time All-County selection...four-year varsity starter...team finished 11-3 and advanced to the county finals as a junior...scored eight goals and finished with 13 assists as a junior...played six years on the Super Nova F.C. squad...helped lead Super Nova to several championships including 2002 Tampa Sun Bowl semifinals, 2000 Super Y-League National co-champions, 1999 Alliance Cup championship and Jefferson Cup championship and 1997 state championship.
PERSONAL: Born January 1, 1975...son of Daniel and Rhonda Detzel...has two brothers...majors in chemical engineering.
