CINCINNATI-The Pitt men's soccer team was unable to hold on to an early 2-0 lead as it fell 4-2 to UC-Davis Sunday afternoon in its final game of the Xavier Soccer Tournament. Both Matt Langton and E. J. McCormick scored for the Panthers (0-1-1) before the 9:00 mark, but Ags midfielder Sule Anababa led UC-Davis (1-1-0) to its first victory of the season as he tallied his first career hat trick.

Langton (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon), a senior captain, got the Panthers on the board in the second minute of the game with his first goal of the season as he beat Ags goalkeeper Brian Wickers in the box, putting Pitt up 1-0.

McCormick (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) tallied his second goal in as many games in the eighth minute to increase the Panthers' lead to 2-0. Freshman midfielder Ryan Brode (Setauket, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) passed up-field to senior Pat Kerr (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon), who found McCormick inside the box for the score. McCormick has already tallied as many goals in the Panthers' first two games as he did in the entire 2006 season.

Pitt was unable to keep the Ags at bay as Anababa notched three goals on four shots, one in the first half and two in the second, giving UC-Davis the 3-2 advantage. Two of Anababa's goals came off penalty kicks. Forward Chris Leer added a final goal in the 77th minute for the games' final of 4-2.

The Panthers will travel to Robert Morris on Sept. 4 to take on the Colonials in a 4 p.m. match-up before their home-opener Sept. 7 vs. Wright State at 7 p.m.
