Junior forward E.J. McCormick scored the Panthers' lone goal, his third of the season. After scoring three goals in Pitt's first three games, McCormick has surpassed his total scoring output over his previous two seasons.
Robert Morris went up 1-0 in the 29th minute when Jacek Przednowek finished a breakaway with a shot into the lower left corner of the goal. Przednowek added another goal in the second half, extending RMU's lead to 2-0.
McCormick (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) responded in the 78th minute after receiving a pass from senior captain Matt Langton (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) to cut the Colonials' lead 2-1. Langton has now tallied assists in two consecutive games for the Panthers.
Midfielder Neil Shaffer added an insurance goal for RMU in the 84th minute for the games' final score of 3-1. The Colonials recorded 16 shots with nine on goal against Pitt goalie Eric Barnes (Aiken, S.C./South Aiken/George Mason), who made his first career start for the Panthers. Pitt notched 14 shots with seven on goal.
The Panthers fall to 0-2-1 overall, while the Colonials remained undefeated at 3-0.
