INDIANOLA, Pa.—The Pitt men’s soccer team registered its third consecutive shutout and rallied for a 3-0 victory over Robert Morris Sunday at Founders Field. The game marked Pitt’s first home contest at Founders Field. The Panthers improve to 2-1-1 overall while Robert Morris drops to 0-3-0.

Pitt took a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute when Chris Wilcox sent a crossing pass from the right side to Ian Farnsworth, who one-timed it into the net. The goal was Farnsworth’s first career and game-winning goal.

The Panthers then went up 2-0 in the 74th minute on a penalty kick by Mike McDade. The penalty kick was setup when E.J. McCormick made a move and was taken down in the penalty box. McDade fired the shot past a diving RMU goalkeeper.

Pitt added an insurance goal in the 88th minute when Wilcox controlled a clearing pass and bumped a shot past the Colonials’ goalkeeper. The score was Wilcox’s first career goal.

Goalkeeper Jordan Marks registered the shutout in goal after playing the full 90 minutes and totaling five saves.

Pitt outshot Robert Morris 14-13 and had three corner kicks to the Colonials’ one. Pitt had several other opportunities to score including a Justin Boehm crossing pass to Wilcox in the 75th minute.

With the win, Pitt improved to 14-10-2 all-time vs. Robert Morris and snapped a four-game losing streak to the Colonials.
