PITTSBURGH-The Pitt men's soccer team fell 1-0 to Binghamton in the final game of the Pitt Invitational Tournament Sunday afternoon at Founders Field. With its win over the Panthers, Binghamton captured the tournament championship going 2-0 over the weekend, including a 1-0 win over Robert Morris.

 

The game was evenly played, as the Bearcats narrowly outshot the Panthers 4-3.

 

In the 13th minute, a defensive miscue allowed Binghamton defender Justin Leskow to recover the ball. Leskow found teammate Darren McAllister in front of the Panther net, who knocked a shot into the lower left corner of the goal for a 1-0 lead.

 

The Panthers were unable to respond, recording just three shots on goal for the day from Matt Baker (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem), E.J. McCormick (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) and Connor Malone (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin).


 

 

 

Baker and Matt Langton (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) were named to the 11-member Pitt Invitational All-Tournament team following play on Sunday.

 

Pitt falls to 0-4-1 while Binghamton remains undefeated at 4-0-0. The Panthers will take the week off and return to Founders Field on Monday, Sept. 17, when they host Saint Joseph's in a 7 p.m. matchup.
