PITTSBURGH-The Panthers' men's soccer team managed just one shot in a 1-0 loss to Connecticut, the defending national champion, in Storrs, Conn., on Wednesday evening.

The Huskies dominated the game, outshooting the Panthers, 17-1, but most shots were not on goal and the game remained scoreless for 84 minutes. With just 5:55 left in the game, UConn's David Catellanos beat Panther goalkeeper Justin Gaul (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./William Tennent) on a shot from 18 yards out that went inside the bottom left corner of the net.

Gaul made three saves in the loss for the Panthers (1-6, 0-4 Big East), their fifth consecutive defeat since beating St. Francis (Pa.) on Sept. 5.

The Panthers had no corner kicks to the Huskies' eight and freshman Marco Carrizales (Missouri City, Texas/Alfonso Crutch Charter School) was given a yellow card at the 54:12 mark. It was his second yellow card in seven games this season.

UConn's Damani Ralph had a game-high six shots to lead the Huskies and Lindon Pecorelli added three attempts.

Pittsburgh returns home for a non-conference game with St. Bonaventure on Sept. 30. The game will be played at Shaler Area High School at 1 p.m.
