Men's Soccer Falls to Syracuse

PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Panther men's soccer team was defeated by Big East opponent Syracuse today, 1-0, at Pitt Stadium. It was Pittsburgh's last conference matchup of the season. Jeff Knittel scored the lone goal of the game for the Orangemen just 4:28 into the contest. The goal came off a rebound after a Syracuse shot was blocked by Panther defender Bill Hicks (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette). Pittsburgh fought hard to score, out-shooting the Orangemen 14-8, but could not capitalize. Senior midfielder Drew Kopp (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) led the Panthers with four shots on goal. Pittsburgh's record falls to 5-9-3 overall, 1-8-2 in the Big East. The Panthers conclude their season on Tuesday, Nov. 3 when it plays host to California (PA). Game time is 7:30.
