GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior defender Kevin Murray was named to the 2016 Atlantic Coast Conference All-ACC Academic Team for his efforts in the classroom, as announced Tuesday by the league office.

Murray is a dual economics and business major with a minor in sociology and will graduate from the University of Pittsburgh this spring.

A native of Lakewood, Ohio, Murray boasts a cumulative 3.874 GPA and has earned a 3.9 GPA over the past two semesters. He is the recipient of the University Scholar Award, given to the top two percent of undergraduates at the University of Pittsburgh. Murray is also a member of Sigma Alpha Pi, a national honor society, as well as Delta Epsilon Iota, an academic honor society.

During his final campaign as a Panther, the defender appeared in 15 games, starting 12.

Murray, a first-time honoree, is the sixth Panther to be named to the All-ACC Academic Team since Pitt joined the conference in 2013.

All 12 ACC men’s soccer programs had at least one player honored, led by North Carolina, Notre Dame, and Syracuse with five apiece.

Per the ACC, minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
