PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh men's soccer team kicks off its spring season in one week. The Panthers begin the spring exhibition campaign on Wednesday, March 20 against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. The Panthers and the USL Pro League club face off at 7 p.m. at Ambrose Urbanic Field at the Petersen Sports Complex. The game commences a stretch of five exhibition games over the the next month.
"The spring season is alaways a very important time for players and staff," said Pitt head coach Joe Luxbacher. "It serfves as a tryout for players who are showing well in practice, and the spring season serves as their extended trial to make the final roster in the fall. The schedule is very challenging, against some very good competition."
Pitt hosts Cal U (PA) on Saturday, April 6 at 2 p.m and will do battle with long-time rival West Virginia on April 13 at 6 p.m. The Panthers entertain Wheeling Jesuit entertain on Wednesday, April 17. The spring slate concludes on Saturday, April 20 at cross-town foe Robert Morris.
The Panthers are looking to build on its 6-9-2 record last fall and gain momentum heading into their inaugural season as a member of the ACC Conference.
