PITTSBURGH - University of Pittsburgh men’s soccer head coach Joe Luxbacher has announced the addition of Graham Smith to the Pitt roster for the fall.
The New Hope, Pa. native is one of eight newcomers on the Panthers 2012 squad. Smith joins Emilio Cordero (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico), Kevin Fielden (Tega Cay, S.C.), Dan Lynd (Penfield, N.Y.), Milos Mijokov (Belgrade, Serbia) , Matt Venanzi (Venetia, Pa.), Andrew Wright (Lancaster, Pa.) and Nick Wysong (Elkhart, Ind.) who were announced earlier this spring.
Smith was a four year varsity letterwinner at New-Hope-Solebury High School. The midfielder and three-year starter helped lead the Lions to Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Class A State Championship last fall.
Smith tallied 14 goals this past season, earning First Team Bicentennial Athletic League (BAL) honors. He was also named to a Southeastern PA and All-Intelligencer Second Team member.
The team captain this past season, Smith was also a member of the New Hope-Solebury squad who captured the school’s first PIAA Class A title in 2010. He was a BAL Honorable Mention selection as a sophomore.
Smith played club for Players Development Academy (PDA) for five years.
