PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh men’s soccer team will host a pair of games at Ambrose Urbanic Field this weekend. The Panthers open their regular season against Oakland University on Friday, August 30, at 7:30 p.m. and host Longwood on Sunday, September 1, at 3 p.m.
The Panthers, who have never faced Oakland or Longwood, are coming off a successful trio of exhibition contests. Pitt posted victories over California (Pa.) and McMaster and earned a draw against Detroit, scoring a combined seven goals in the three games.
Chris Davis netted three goals for the Panthers, while Chu Chu Onyeukwu scored two goals in the exhibition games. Dan Prete and Nico Wrobel also chipped in with a goal apiece. Dan Lynd and Braden Horton split time in between the pipes and combined for a pair of shutouts.
The two home games this weekend will be double headers with the women’s team and are part of the Student Welcome Back Games, where the Pitt Marketing Staff will be giving away great prizes to Panther fans.
