Men's Soccer Drops 1-0 Decision to Hartwick

ONEONTA, N.Y.—No. 17 Hartwick College handed the No. 18 ranked Pittsburgh Men’s Soccer team a 1-0 loss Saturday, its first loss of the season. The contest marked the opening game of the Mayors Cup tournament hosted by Oneonta State University.
The loss dropped the No. 18 ranked Panthers to 1-1-0 overall.
The Hawks notched the game’s only goal when senior Rob Catana scored an unassisted goal in the 67th minute of play. Pittsburgh sophomore Keeyan Young (North Wales, Pa./Haverford School) had the Panthers best scoring chance of the game when he intercepted a second half pass from a Hawks defender and blasted a shot that hit the crossbar.
Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Justin Lowery (Atlanta, Ga./Paideia School) had a good game in net as he faced 12 shots while finishing with a career-high seven saves.
The Hawks held the advantage in shots (12-5) and corner kicks (4-0) which translated into their second win of the season, lifting their record to 2-0-0 overall.
The Panthers return to action Sunday afternoon to face Mayors Cup host Oneonta State.
