PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh men’s soccer team (0-4-2) will host Xavier (3-4-2) in a nonconference showdown at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, at Ambrose Urbanic Field.
Pitt is coming off a 2-0 loss at Maryland. Dan Lynd played admirably in net for the Panthers making eight saves in front of the Terps’ hostile crowd.
Lynd has led the Panthers between the pipes ranking first in the ACC with 5.25 saves per game.
Xavier is coming off of a 1-0 loss to Marquette this past Saturday. For the year, the Musketeers have been led on offense by Matt Walker, who has 11 points on three goals and five assists, and Will Walker, who has five points on two goals and an assists.
Eric Osswald and Vince Shaw have split time in goal for Xavier. Osswald has a 0.86 GAA and 28 saves in 730 minutes of action, while Shaw boasts a 2.00 GAA in 135 minutes.
This will mark the second meeting between the Musketeers and the Panthers with Pitt taking a 1-0 victory in 2006.
