Panthers travel to Georgetown this Sunday.

PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh women's soccer team hosted 16th-ranked Boston College in a Big East Conference intra-divisional game today at the Morton Sports Complex, and fell to the Eagles, 2-0.

Boston College tallied both goals in quick succession in the first half. Eagle Sarah Rahko converted a corner kick from teammate Meghan Moore at the 25:04 mark. Just over a minute later, Boston College struck again, this time on a 20-yarder from defender Katherine Murphy at 26:08. The assist came from Lindsey Marshall. The score remained 2-0 at halftime and was all that was needed for the win.

Pittsburgh played solid defense throughout the game, but its offense sturggled with just six shots on goal compared to the Eagles' 20. The Panthers were led by redshirt freshman midfielder Kimberly Sturk (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) and sophomore midfielder Laura Marsh (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg), each with two shots. Boston College was led by midfielder Colleen Danaher with four shots on goal.

Pittsburgh keeper Rachel Brown (Burnley, England/St. Christopher's) made six saves on the afternoon. The Eagle defense was credited with one save while keeper Courtney Schaeffer made none and earned the shot out.

Pittsburgh's record moves to 4-10 overall and 1-4 in the Mid-Atlantic Division of the Big East. Boston College is 10-4 overall and 3-1 in the Northeast Division.

The Panthers return to action this Sunday, Oct. 8, when they travel to Georgetown in a divisional matchup in Washington, D.C.
