WASHINGTON, D.C.Sophomore forward Keeyan Young (North Wales, Pa./Haverford School) scored two goals Sunday afternoon, including the game-winner in double overtime as the Pittsburgh Men’s Soccer team topped the Georgetown Hoyas 2-1.

Pittsburgh's victory improves its record to 5-8-0 overall and 2-4-0 in Big East play, while the loss drops the Hoyas to 4-7-2 overall and 1-5-0 in the Big East.

The Hoyas got on the board first with a goal in the 8th minute of play when Daniel Grasso booted a corner kick to Ricky Schram for the 1-0 lead.

Pittsburgh answered back just 13 seconds later, when Young bolted through the Georgetown defense to score his fifth goal of the season and tie the score at one.

The Panthers’ defense lead by redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Justin lowery (Atlanta, Ga./Paideia School) held the Hoyas in check despite facing nine shots and several scoring chances.

With regulation coming to a close, Pittsburgh and its defense would be tested in the first overtime period as the Hoyas attacked, but could not capitalize on any of its scoring chances due to Lowery’s strong performance in goal and a stifling Pittsburgh defense.

In the second overtime period Pittsburgh’s offense stepped up as Young wove his way through the Georgetown defense with 1:42 to play, and ended the game with a blast to the left corner of the net. The goal by Young was his sixth of the season and marks his third game-winner of the season, the sixth of his career.

Pittsburgh returns to action Saturday, Oct. 18th as it travels to Providence, R.I. for a Big East match against Providence. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
