    INDIANOLA, Pa.Ohio State used a Sammy Tamporello goal in the 56th minute to hand Pittsburgh a 1-0 men’s soccer loss Friday at Founders Field. The loss dropped Pittsburgh to 5-10-1 overall while Ohio State improved to 4-9-3.

    As a sign of its youthful team, Pittsburgh has lost eight of its 10 matches by one goal.

    Tamporello controlled a crossing pass from Dana York and sent the ball past Pittsburgh goalkeeper Justin Lowery. Ohio State’s Rob Strachan also received an assist on the play.

    Ohio State outshot the host Panthers 13-11 and finished with seven corner kicks to Pitt’s five. Lowery finished the evening with five saves.

    The two teams combined for four yellow cards and 35 fouls.

    Pittsburgh gets back into Big East play with a match at Virginia Tech on Wednesday, Oct. 29. The Panthers host Syracuse for their final home match of the season on Nov. 2.
