Eric Limkemann, a former Big East champion swimmer at Pittsburgh, joins the Panthers' coaching staff for his first season in 2004-05. Limkemann will assist in the day-to-day training of the athletes and will also assist in meet operations on the days of competition.

"We're very happy to have Eric on board with us as a coaching assistant," Head Coach Chuck Knoles said. "He was a champion swimmer here at Pittsburgh and can share a large amount of competitive experience to this year's squad."

Limkemann won a total of nine Big East Championships in his career with the Panthers. A four-time conference winner in the 1650 freestyle, Limkemann is only the second Panther to win an event all four years, joining John Sharkey (1-meter diving, 1987, 89-91). He was also a winner in the 500 freestyle in both 2002 and 2003 and the 400 IM champion in 2002.

Limkemann also won two 800 freestyle relay titles with the Panthers, as a sophomore in 2002 and as a senior last season.

A 2002 NCAA Championships qualifier, Limkemann earned the University's prestigious Blue-Gold Award in 2004 for his work in the pool and in the classroom.

Limkemann graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2004 with a degree in exercise science and currently resides in Oakland.
