ATHENS, Ga.- The Pittsburgh men's swimming relay teams had another All-America honorable mention showing on Friday evening in the 800 freestyle.

The team of , Mike Grube (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby), Adam Webber (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) and Max Von Bodungen (Malmo, Sweden, Borgarskolan) swam the 800 free relay in 6:33.99 to finish in 15th place in the event. The placement gave Pittsburgh its third All-America honorable mention of the NCAA Championships and four more team points.

Pittsburgh is tied for 24th overall with South Carolina and Alabama. All three teams have 14 points, 362 behind Texas for first place. The Longhorns hold a slight 15-point lead over No. 1 Stanford (376-361) going into the final day of competition.

In the preliminaries on Friday afternoon, three Panthers competed in the 200 freestyle. Grube was the top Panther in 36th place with a time of 1:38.91, his second best all time. He was followed by Webber with a time of 1:39.34 in 39th position and Von Bodungen with a time of 1:40.07 in 42nd place.

In the 100 breaststroke, Randy Gertenbach (El Centro, Calif./Paradise Valley) placed 40th out of 42 swimmers with a time of 56.27 seconds, his third-fastest mark.

Finally, in the 3-meter diving competition, senior Michael Wells (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown) placed 33rd with 264.85 points. Troy Dumais of Texas won his second NCAA diving title of the meet with a score of 673.80 points in the finals.

The three-day meet concludes tomorrow in Athens, Ga.
