Sophomore receives recognition for performance over the weekend
2010-11:Indoor T/F - Repeated a fourth place finish in the Big East Indoor Championships in the 800M run...part of the 4x800M relay at the Big East Indoor Championships, finishing third with a career best time of 7:31.0...collected a sixth place finish in the 800M run at the IC4A Championships, Cowsette's preliminary time of 1:49.8 marked a career best...won the 1000M run at the Doug Raymond Invitational (2:28.3)...finished fifth in the 1 Mile run at the Akron Invitational...recorded a sixth place finish in the 500M dash and was a member of the winning 4x400M relay at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational (1:03.6). Outdoor T/F - Finished eighth in the 800M run at the Big East Outdoor Championships...won the 800M run, stopping the clock at 1:52.06 at the Charlotte 49ers Classic, set a career best in the 1500M run with a time of 4:08.6 at the same event.
2009-10:Indoor T/F - Finished fourth at the Big East Indoor Championships in the 800M run...part of two relays at the Big East Indoor Championships, finishing fifth in the 4x800M and eighth in the 4000 Distance Medley... ninth in the 400M dash at the Akron Invitational...won the 600M run at the Illinois Carle/ Health Alliance Classic, finishing second in the 4x400M relay at the same event...took third at the Kent State Golden Flash Gala in the 800M run...finished second in the 800M run and was a member of the 4x400M relay that took sixth at the Penn State National...recorded a third-place finish in the 500M dash and was a member of the fifth-place 4000 Distance Medley at the Penn State Northeast Challenge...member of the third place 4x800M relay and the ninth place 4000 Distance Medley relay at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational. Outdoor T/F - won the 1500M run and was a member of the third-place 4x400M relay at the MSU Legacy meet...second in the 800M run and eighth as a member of the 4x400M relay at the Duke Invitational...fifth in the 800M run at the Sun Angel Classic...sixth in the 4000 Distance Medley at the Penn Relays.
2008-09:Indoor T/F - Dontave Cowsette won the 500M dash at the State Farm Games...placed first in the 800M run at the Akron Quad...competed in the 800M run at the Penn State National Meet and crossed the line in 1:54.8. Outdoor T/F - Ran the 800M run at the Charlotte 49ers Classic and finished third in 1:53.1...placed first in the 800M run at Richmond's Fred Hardy...finished fourth in the 800M run at the Texas Relays...ran the 800 meters at the Big East Championships.
High School: Cowsette posted a 48.73 in the 400M dash and a 1:54.24 in the 800M run during his senior season...a member of the 3200-meter relay that finished first in the state meet his junior and senior years...was an All-American in the 3200- meter relay...his team was the 2008 Ohio State Champions....also an Honor Roll student.
Personal: Son of Dontave Cowsette Sr. and Erika Smith...born April 4, 1990...has three brothers, Devante, Eric and Andre Smith...a business major.
