Former University of Pittsburgh student-athlete, Darryl Weston enters his second season as a member of Pitt's track and field staff. Weston started in November 2010 as the Director of Track and Field Operations. His duties include travel, organizing official visits, meet itinerary, compliance and handling the budget.
Weston came to Pitt from the University of Akron where he was the Director of Football Operations for three seasons, 2007-09. Prior to his tenure at Akron, Weston was the graduate assistant for football operations at Marshall.
A member of Pitt's football team from 2000-02, Weston started his career at a tight end before moving to the offensive line. Weston suffered a career-ending injury in 2002, but remained involved with the program working alongside Chris LaSala as his football operations assistant.
"I am excited to return to my alma mater," Weston said. "As a former University of Pittsburgh student athlete, I have a vested interest in knowing that every student-athlete has the ultimate collegiate experience."
A 2004 graduate of Pitt, Weston earned his bachelors' degree in communications and rhetoric. He later finished his masters in sport administration at Marshall in 2007.
