STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Junior Brycen Spratling broke his own school record and won the 200 meter dash, and also set the meet record in the 400 meter dash to highlight the day for the University of Pittsburgh men’s and women’s track and field teams at the Penn State National.

Spratling broke his own record in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.01. His previous best was 21.16 which he set last indoor season. He then doubled back to win the 400 meter dash in a meet-record time of 46.25. He now owns the second fastest 400 meter dash time in the nation. Micah Murray placed seventh in that same event in a time of 47.54.

Tashaun Hill was third in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 7.89, which was just shy of his career-best. Olivier Philogene also had a third place finish as he went 1:05.31 in the 500 meter dash.

Matt Dallago set a massive personal-record with a sixth place finish in the mile run with a time of 4:12.97. He set his new PR by four seconds in that event.

Highlighting the women’s competition was Elizabeth Kline who placed second in the heptathlon. Kline collected 3,741 points and was victorious in the 800 meter run (2:17.71) and the shot put (11.25m). Kline blew out the field in the 800, winning by more than 11 seconds. Her total score ranks second in the Big East.

Rachel Brown had a standout performance as she qualified for the Big East Championships in the 5,000 meter run with a new personal-best of 17:26.30.

Ashley Corum took third place in the triple jump with a distance of 39-06.50.

“I think it went really well today,” head coach Alonzo Webb said. “We had good performances across the board. The throwers and the sprinters did really well, and I was pleased with both the men’s and women’s Distance Medley Relay teams.”

The Panthers are back in action next weekend at the Akron Invitational which begins on Friday, February 1, and ends on Saturday afternoon, February 2.
