CHARLOTTE, N.C.--Several Panthers advanced to the finals on Friday, as the University of Pittsburgh men's track and field team began its outdoor season at the 49er Classic at Irwin Belk Track.
Junior Tashaun Hill qualified for the finals of the 110M hurdles with the fifth-best time in the prelims at 14.39. He is set to compete at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday.
Running in his first meet (indoor or outdoor) of the year, senior Antony Hobwana advanced to the finals of the 100M dash with an eighth-place performance in the prelims (10.76). The finals will begin at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. Hobwana narrowly missed the finals in the 400M dash with a 12th-place finish (48.46).
In the javelin, junior Josiah Rupert will participate in the finals after placing fifth with a toss of 57.82M.
Senior Kurt Barnhart finished just outside the top-10 in the hammer throw (48.08M), claiming 13th overall.
