STATE COLLEGE – The University of Pittsburgh men’s and women’s track teams are heading to State College, Pa. this Saturday, January 12, to compete at the Nittany Lion Challenge.
The Panthers will be returning to Horace Ashenfelter Indoor Track just seven days after completing a successful showing at the Penn State Relays. Pitt left State College with a first place finish, along with numerous career-best times.
Joining Pitt and Penn State at this weekend’s meet is: Albany, Cornell, Maryland and Oklahoma. For the Panthers, they will take their No. 25 national ranking and look to build on it.
Senior Tashaun Hill will try to improve on his third place finish a week ago in the 60 meter hurdles. Hill will be one of 18 men’s track student-athletes, along with fellow 60 meter dash participants Micah Murray and Reginald Steele IV to make the trip to Penn State this weekend.
Steele and junior Dan O’Toole look to be the busiest Panthers this weekend, finding themselves in four separate events each.
Taking part in the 800 meter run will be Tyler Castelli and Sam Negley, as both will also run in one of the two 4x400 relay entered.
The Pitt men’s track team will also field individuals in the 3,000 meter run, high jump, 400 meter dash, 200 meter dash, pole vault and the Distance Medley Relay.
