Dallago looks to defend his mile victory from last weekend

State College, Pa. - The University of Pittsburgh men’s and women’s track and field teams are heading to State College, Pa. this Friday, January 25th to compete in the two-day Penn State National Invitational at Horace Ashenfelter Indoor Track.
The Big East Conference will be well represented on Friday and Saturday with schools such as Syracuse, Georgetown and Villanova competing alongside Pitt. Other top squads contending this weekend include Penn State, Temple, VCU and East Carolina.
After finishing first and second respectively in the one-mile run last week at the Tiffin Carnival, sophomore Matt Dallago and senior Andrew Cerrito look to improve on their season-best times (4:20.00 & 4:23.00) this week.
A total of 20 student-athletes will represent the men’s team at Penn State. Pitt will field participants in 10 different events.
Headlining Pitt women’s track and field competitors at the Invitational will be the 4x4 relay team which boasts the nation’s eighth best time this year in that event (3.40.10).
Six of the 17 women traveling to State College this weekend will also be competing in three separate events. They include: Jonnique Lawrence (Sr.), Taranisha Taylor (Fr.), Funmi Alabi (Jr.), Jordan Lee (Jr.), Arielle Fonrose (Sr.) and Evann Thompson (Fr.)
