NEW YORK - Specific members of the Pitt men's and women's track and field teams are headed to The Armory Collegiate Invitational, while others will be at the Akron Invitational this Friday and Saturday.

Representing the Panthers at The Armory - one of the world's most prestigious track and field venues - will be Tashaun Hill, Micah Murrary and Brycen Spratling for the men, along with Arielle Fonrose and Jonnique Lawrence foe the women.

The Armory Collegiate Invitational will have over 100 universities represented as top teams from across the nation gather in NYC.

The men's 400 meter dash will be the event to keep an eye on as Brycen Spratling, owner of the nation's second fast time, will go head-to-head with Deon Lendore of Texas A&M who has the country's top time. Spratling is coming off the Penn State National in which he set a school record in the 200 meter dash and a meet record in the 400.

Murray will join Spratling in the 400 meter dash, while Hill will compete in the 60 meter hurdles. Spratling will also run the 200. For the women, Lawrence is entered in the 60 and the 200 meter dash events, while Fonrose will race in the 400. Lawrence ran a season best 200 meter time last weekend at the Penn State National as she ran a 24.12.

The remaining Pitt student-athletes are headed to Akron, Ohio for the Akron Zips Invitational. The men's team will be sending 21 student-athletes while the women's side will have 37.

Coming off a solid week which saw many athletes set personal-bests and reach Big East qualifying times, Pitt looks to continue that momentum as the conference championship meet is looming - just two weeks away.

Long distance runners Matt Dallago and Rachel Brown set PR's in the mile and the 5K as both qualified for the Big East last weekend. They will come down in distance as Dallago will go in the 800 meters and Brown races the 3K.

Six male athletes will be competing in three separate events each, while Jordan Lee will compete in four events for the women. Khadeja Kearney and Jordan Hoyt are both entered in three events, respectively.

Following this weekend, the Panthers head to Geneva, Ohio next weekend for the Spire Collegiate Invitational, which is the site of the Big East Championship meet.
