Pittsburgh Indoor Track and Field Has Success at the State Farm Meet

Both the men and women clinch several first place finishes.

PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh indoor track and field teams competed this weekend at the State Farm meet at West Virginia University. Both the men’s team and the women’s team boast several first place finishes.

            Senior Nicole Vann (Newport News, Va./Menchville) placed first in the long jump with a jump of 5.65 meters. Freshman Fatmata Fofanah (Bronx, NY/Bronx) finished first in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.94. Freshman Krystal Epps (Butler, Pa./Butler) also ran to a first place finish the in 800 meters in a time of 2:15.96. Other top performers for the women include freshman LeAndre Golden (Hanover, Pa./Hanover) who finished second in the pole vault with a score of 3.45 meters, while senior Janine Jones (Newport News, Va./Menchville) also placed second in the 400 meters with a time of 58:12.

            Freshman Justin Clickett (Union City, Pa./Union City Area) placed first in the shot put with a throw of 16.54 meters and placed second in the weight throw with a score of 15.06 meters. Freshman Ed Ruiz (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) placed second in the shot put with a throw of 14.84 meters. Senior Matt Brousse (Carlisle, Pa./Lock Haven University) also had a first place finish in the pole vault with a throw of 5.00 meters, while sophomore teammate Jared Leese (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) placed second with a throw of 4.20 meters. Senior Clinton Kotuby (Elwood City, Pa./Riverside) raced to first place finish in the 3,000 meters in a time of 8:54.26.  

            The Panthers’ next competition is Feb. 13-14 at the Penn State Challenge Cup at State College, Pa.
