Pitt Opens Outdoor Season at the Miami Hurricane Invitational

PITTSBURGH - The Panthers head south to open their outdoor track season in Miami, Fla., at the Miami Hurricane Invitational this weekend.

 

After claiming his third All-American honor at the NCAA Indoor Championships this past weekend, senior Sam Bair (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler/Kent State) is ready to unleash his speed in the outdoor season. Bair's other two All-American accolades came in 2006 at the NCAA outdoor meet.

 

Mike Wray (Philadelphia, Pa./Central), Pitt hurdler, also competed in the NCAA Indoor Championships claimed his second All-America honor in the 60-meter hurdles. He also garnered All-America status in the same event at the NCAA Indoor Championships last year.


 

 

 

The Pitt women's track and field teams haven't seen action since the ECAC championships, when Janessa Murphy (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) took home the gold with a 6.07 meters jump in the long jump garnering her fourth consecutive All-ECAC accolade since 2006.

 

The next meet for the team will be split between the Raleigh Relays and the Stanford Invitational March 28-29.
