LYNCHBURG, Va. -
The men's track and field team competed in the Asics Liberty Invitational this weekend and captured four event titles. The Panthers won the 800 meters, 1,500 meters, 3,000-meter steeplechase and triple jump.
Seniors Andy Tomaswick (Natrona Heights, Pa./Highlands) and Tim Konoval (Parry Sound, Ontario/Central Connecticut State) both set personal records when they captured their event titles. Tomaswick took first in the 1,500 meters and set his personal-best time of 3:57.33. Konoval recorded his personal-best time of 1:52.67 in the 800 meters.
Mike Long (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville North) won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:29.55. Long currently holds the school's outdoor record in this event.
Sophomore Eric Jones (Pittsburgh, Pa./Gateway) took first place in the triple jump with a distance of 13.83 meters. Jones also placed fourth in the long jump with 6.41 meters.
Senior A.J. Kielinski (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Kennedy-Kenrick Catholic) took third in both the hammer throw and discus. He threw a distance of 50.19 meters in the hammer throw and a distance of 44.05 meters in the discus. And in the javelin, Matt Raquet (Reading, Pa./Holy Name) finished second with a throw of 54.07 meters.
