PITTSBURGH-The University of Pittsburgh men’s track and field team will send student-athletes to a pair of meets this weekend. The Panthers will compete at the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla., and at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va.

The Panthers are fresh off a successful weekend that saw them compete in two different meets at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, and the Fred Hardy Invitational in Richmond, Va.

The 800-meter relay team of sophomores Micah Murray and Brycen Spratling and seniors Jermaine Lowery and Antony Hobwana crossed the finish line fourth (1:24.56) at the Texas Relays.

At the Fred Hardy Invitational, sophomore Sam Negley (1:51.13) and senior Benjamin Hatch (1:52.27) turned in strong performances in the 800-meter run with second and fourth place finishes.

Freshman Rich Addison claimed second place in the 10,000-meter run (32:15.50) while fellow freshman Ben Kisley crossed the finish line in sixth with a mark of 32:40.81.

In the field events, senior Kurt Barnhart posted a personal best in the discus throw with a toss of 49.65 meters while also finishing second in the hammer throw (50.80 meters).

Last year at the Colonial Relays, senior Dontave Cowsette finished third in the 800-meter run while Lowery turned in a third place finish in the 400-meter hurdles. Junior Josiah Rupert finished eighth in the javelin with a throw of 53.96 meters.
