PITTSBURGH-The University of Pittsburgh men’s track and field team returns to action this weekend at the Morgan State Legacy Meet held in Baltimore, Md.
Pitt is coming off a successful at both the Bison Outdoor Classic (Lewisburg, Pa.) and the Sea Ray Relays (Knoxville, Tenn.) with a record-setting performance from sophomore Brycen Spratling.
Spratling set the school record in the 400-meter dash with a first-place performance of 46.03 in the Sea Ray Showcase, eclipsing Karl Farmer’s time of 46.34 that stood since 1975. Spratling’s time was a personal best, currently ranks No. 9 in the country and is tops in the Big East this year.
Spratling received the Tony Wilson Award as the Sea Ray Relay’s most outstanding track athlete. He was also named the Men’s Big East Track Athlete of the Week.
Sophomore Micah Murray finished second in the 400-meter dash with a Big East qualifying time of 47.26.
Last season, the Panthers finished second overall at the Legacy Meet.
Additionally, Pitt’s 400-meter relay team comprised of Hill, Murray, Steele IV and senior Jerome Lowery posted a fifth-place effort.
