PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pittsburgh men's 4x200 and 4x400 meter relay teams set school records on Saturday at the Penn Relays.
The team of Brycen Spratling, Carvin Nkanata, Micah Murray and Josh Mindlin set a school record in the men’s 4x200 meter relay. The quartet set the new mark with a time of 1:23.77, bettering the previous school best of 1:23.78 by one tenth of a second. The previous record was set last season.
Murray, Nkanata and Spratling, along with Olivier Philogene then teamed up to shatter the 4x400 school record which had been standing since 1986. The four ran a time of 3:04.16 and finished third overall.
Brett Millar set a personal-record in the javelin with a throw of 69.31m (227.4 feet). He out-did his pervious best of 68.21m which was accomplished earlier this season at the Raleigh Relays. Millar was second overall.
Julia Koloski notched a second place finish in the college division of the triple jump on Saturday with a career-best with a distance of 12.50m (41-0.25 feet). Koloski finished only behind France Makabu of Middle Tennessee State and posted the second best distance of the season of the Panthers.
The Panthers head to the Big East Championship next weekend hosted by Rutgers in Piscataway, N.J. Pitt notched three individual championships during the indoor season.
