Track and Field Competes This Weekend at NCAA East Regional Meet

The meet will be held at Manhattan College's Icahn Stadium.

PITTSBURGHSeveral University of Pittsburgh’s men’s and women’s track and field student-athletes will compete this weekend, May 27-29, at the 2005 NCAA East Regional Track and Field Championships. Hosted by Manhattan College, the meet will be held at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island.

 

The women have 12 individuals competing this weekend-- Shanea Calhoun (sprints/relays), Shantea Calhoun (relays), Kim Lyles (sprints/relays), Nicola Angstadt (3,000 meter steeplechase), Julianna Reed (hurdles/relays), Martina Hallman (hurdles/jumps/relays), Tamara McGill (hurdles/jumps), Lamoy Stephens (jumps/relays), Marissa Dudek (pole-vault), Leandra Golden (pole-vault), Jill Knopsnyder (javelin), and Amanda Walker (shot-put). 

 

A strong performance is expected from Amanda Walker in the shot put competition. Walker is currently ranked 2nd in the East Region and 4th overall in the NCAAs.

Leading the Panthers on the men’s side is Jeryl Wilborn (sprints), Sam Bair (middle distance), 
Tim Konoval (middle distance), Keith Higham (pole-vault), Matt Brousse (pole-vault), Tony Bonura (javelin), 
Cory Kuehner (javelin), and Justin Clickett (shot-put).  
Qualifiers will advance to the NCAA Championships, held June 8-11, in Sacramento, Calif.
