NCAA Notes | Men's and Women's Entry List and Live Results

EUGENE, Ore. - Six members of the University of Pittsburgh men's and women's track and field team are set to participate in the NCAA National Championship Meet this week, June 5-8, at Hayward Field hosted by the University of Oregon.

Individually, Carvin Nkanata will run the 200 meter dash, Brycen Spratling will run the 400 meter dash and Elizabeth Kline will compete in the women's heptathlon. The men's 4x400 meter relay team of Micah Murray, Nkanata, Charles Ross and Spratling will also be in action. Freshman Olivier Philogene is an alternate for the 4x4.

Carvin Nkanata:

A junior, Nkanata will be one of the top contenders to win the 200 meter dash national championship title. Nkanata is seeded seventh heading into the meet after running a 20.53 at the NCAA qualifying meet, but he owns the nation's fourth fastest time of the season with a 20.32 at the ECAC/IC4A Championship Meet. He trails only Isiah Young of Ole' Miss (20.20), Bryshon Nellum of USC (20.23) and Ameer Webb of Texas A&M (20.30).

Brycen Spratling:

Spratling is seeded 13th in the 400 meter dash heading to Eugene. He posted the sixth fastest time at the NCAA East Regional qualifying meet with a time of 46.51 to reach the championship meet, and he has now qualified to run the 400 at NCAA's in both the indoor and the outdoor season. Spratling's best time of the season came at the Big East Championship Meet when he established a new school record in a time of 45.94.

Elizabeth Kline:

The Big East heptathlon champion, Kline is the only representative for the Pitt women at NCAA's. During her title performance at the Big East Meet in May, Kline set six personal records during the seven event competition. She was victorious in three of the seven events (800 meter run, 100 meter hurdles, long jump). Kline is seeded 18th heading into the meet.

MEN'S 4x400:

Murray, Nkanata, Ross and Spratling finished sixth overall at the NCAA East Regional Meet and are seeded 22nd heading into the weekend. The Panthers posted a 3:07.56 in Greensboro for their seed of 22, but they claim the sixth fastest time in the nation of 3:04.16 in which they ran at the Penn Relays.
