KENT, Ohio - The University of Pittsburgh men's and women's track and field teams will open up the 2013-14 campaign this weekend at the Golden Flash Gala hosted by Kent State University.
The meet will begin on Friday afternoon with most of the field events, followed by the 5K event that evening. Saturday features the majority of the track events.
The Panthers will bring 19 male student-athletes and 24 female student-athletes with them to the meet. Pitt last competed two weeks ago at the 26th Annual Blue/Gold Intra Squad scrimmage, but this will be its first official meet of the indoor season.
Leading the charge this weekend, All-Americans Carvin Nkanata and Brycen Spratling return for the men's side, while top-hurdler Evann Thompson and top-sprinter Taranisha Taylor are back to represent the women.
After the Golden Flash Gala, Pitt is off until after the New Year when the Panthers resume action at the Penn State Relays on January 11th.
