Tyler Nauman and Matt Wilps Fall in Semifinals, But Had Already Clinched All-American Honors

2010-11: Continued his success at Pitt with his third straight trip to the NCAA Championships...Went 2-2 at the national tournament...Became the third Pitt wrestler and the first since Pat Santoro in 1989 to win three EWL titles after defeating Matt Bonson (Lock Haven) 6-4 in the finals...Ranked eighth in the final national rankings...took third at the Midlands Championships with a 5-1 record...wins over nationally-ranked opponents came against No. 12 Zack Kemmerer (Penn State) 4-2, No. 15 Chris Drouin (Iowa State) by fall in 5:26, No. 11 Todd Schavrien (Missouri) 9-5 and No, 17 Joshua Kindig (Oklahoma State) 7-3...Won Clarion Open with a perfect 4-0 record...Went a perfect 11-0 against wrestlers from EWL schools...Won nine straight matches between Dec. 29 and Jan. 14...Finished with seven pins, three technical falls and two major decisions.

2009-10: Returned for a spectacular sophomore season, going 37-5 for the Panthers, including a perfect 18-0 in dual matches...Seeded 10th at the NCAA Championships...An NCAA All-American, placed fifth overall at 141, where he defeated Germane Lindsey of Ohio 3-2...Won EWL Championships by defeating Greg Lewis of Clarion 6-2 in the final...Recorded the most wins on the squad with 37...Recorded the second most wins by a sophomore at Pitt...One of four wrestlers on the squad with 30 or more wins on the year...Defeated No. 2 Jamal Parks of Oklahoma State, 5-3, 7th-ranked Filp Novachkov of Caly Poly, 6-5, No. 9 Trevor Melde of Rutgers, 8-7...Recorded nine falls for second most on the Panthers' squad with the quickest fall at 1:28...Went 5-0 in the Clarion Open taking first place...Went 6-1 in the Nittany Lion Open taking fifth place.

2008-09: One of three returning national qualifiers for the Panthers...Collected a team-high 29 wins on the season and produced one of the finest seasons by a freshman in Pitt history...Won the seventh most matches by a Pitt freshman...Tallied 11 falls on the year, seventh most by a Panther wrestler...Totaled back-to-back 20 win seasons...Went 11-1 in dual matches...Placed in four tournaments on the year, including a 141-pound title at the Eastern Wrestling League Championships...Opened the season with a fourth place finish at the Michigan State Open, going 5-2 with two falls...Made back-to-back finals appearances at the Keystone Classic and Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, taking second in both tournaments...Helped the Panthers to their best overall finish in Las Vegas (fourth)...Went 3-0 at the EWL Championship en route to his first conference title...Went 1-2 at the NCAA Championships...fell 6-4 to eventual national champion J Jaggers (Ohio State) in sudden victory in the second round...Ranked among the top 15 of the 141 pound weight class throughout the 2008-09 season.

2007-08: Redshirted...Placed at all five opens competed in...Went 4-1 at the Eastern Michigan Open, including a pin in his first collegiate match and a major decision in his second to take second place in the 141-pound class...Posted a 3-2 record at the Michigan State open a week later, capturing fifth place...Recorded a first-round pin en route to a second-place finish at the East Stroudsburg Open...Carded three straight pins to open the Nittany Lion Open and took fifth place with a 6-1 record on the day...In his final open tournament of the year, won four straight matches including two by pinfall to take first place at the Shorty Hitchcock Memorial Classic.

HIGH SCHOOL: 2007 Senior National runner-up in the 130 pound division...Ranked No. 1 in the nation by W.I.N.
