PITTSBURGH - The Pitt wrestling team hosted its annual Blue vs. Gold match this evening, inside the Fitzgerald Field House. The event featured 15 matches across eight weight classes with the Gold team coming out on top by a score of 24-10.
Blue got its first points when Max Thomusseit pinned his opponent at 2:39 of the first period. Thomusseit was followed by Ryan Solomon who also got bonus points for the Blue team when he earned a 13-0 major decision.
The evening ended with a heavyweight matchup won by P.J. Tasser of the Gold squad, 5-3.
The event started with seven preliminary bouts to determine the participants on the Blue and Gold rosters. Results from all matches can be found below. Matches were not wrestled at 125 and 174 pounds.
The Panthers will take to the mats for the first official time this Sunday, Nov. 3, when they head to Clarion, Pa., for the Knight Point Open.
