WRESTLING PREPARES FOR HOME DUAL MEET VS. AIR FORCE
Jan. 19, 2007 PITTSBURGH - The Pitt wrestling team returns home this week for a dual meet against Air Force. The Panthers (4-3, 1-0 EWL) are coming off a dual meet loss to No. 23 Michigan State while the Falcons (2-4, 0-0 WW) recently finished 1-3 at the Lone Star Duals. Some familiar faces will reunite this weekend when Pitt's No. 13 Drew Headlee (Waynesburg, Pa./Waynesburg) takes on Stephen Makuka and Joe Ciampoli (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) faces Jake Kriegbaum. Headlee won a 14-3 major decision over Makuka at the Las Vegas Invitational, and Kriegbaum won a 13-1 major decision over Ciampoli. One of the Lord brothers, Bridger or Zach, will face Pitt's No. 8 Matt Kocher (State College, Pa./State College) who recently returned to the mat, earning another dual victory last weekend. And the Falcons' Stephen Crozier will have to face Pitt's No. 3 Keith Gavin (Factoryville, Pa./Lackawanna Trail), who's been ranked at the top of his weight class for most of the season. Pitt has won four dual meets this season with wins over Rider, Bloomsburg, Duquesne and Appalachian State. Their losses have come to No. 2 Missouri, No. 23 Michigan State and No. 25 Lehigh. Gavin leads the team with six dual meet wins, and Kocher remains undefeated in dual bouts. The Falcons, under the direction of a new head coach this season, won dual meets against Colorado School of Mines and Brown. While at the Lone Star Duals, they faced No. 4 Oklahoma State and No. 19 Wisconsin. Below is a tentative lineup for tomorrow:
