Panthers Set for Second Home Match This Week
Feb. 10, 2006 PITTSBURGH - Pitt (3-8, 1-3 EWL) will host Lock Haven (5-10, 1-1 EWL) as they wind down their 2005-06 dual match season. The Panthers met the Bald Eagles earlier this season at the Southern Scuffle. Pitt finished in 14th with a team score of 46 points, edging out Lock Haven who finished 15th with 44 points. "They have been wrestling very well lately," Head Coach Rande Stottlemyer said of Lock Haven. "I saw the results of the recent Edinboro dual meet, and they won three bouts in which they had previously lost to that opponent earlier in the season. We will need to get extra points where possible and wrestle extremely hard at all times to win this match. It should be an entertaining match for the fans to watch." The 149-pound bout will likely be an exciting one this evening as Pitt's Joey Ecklof (Northampton, Pa./Northampton) takes on Lock Haven's Josh Medina. While Medina is ranked 17th nationally, Ecklof has been having a successful freshman campaign which includes beating Michigan State's #12 Darren McKnight and compiling a 17-8 overall record. With Pitt and Lock Haven's even line ups, tonight's match has the potential be determined at the heavyweight bout between Pitt's Lou Thomas (Parkersburg, Pa./Parkersburg) and Lock Haven's Tim Meyers.
