EU Open Bracket
PITTSBURGH - P.J. Tasser and Anthony Zanetta captured individual titles at the Edinboro Open to highlight a weekend of open tournament wrestling for the Pitt wrestling team.
Tasser took home his first title of the season when he knocked off Andrew Church of Penn State by a 7-2 decision in the finals at 174 pounds. On his way to the finals, Tasser earned decisions over Mike Vollant of Kent State and Nick Mitchell of Edinboro and a 12-3 major decision over Alex Gong of Gannon.
Zanetta won his fifth open tournament of the season in convincing fashion using a fall and two tech falls to reach the finals of the 125 pound bracket where he took home a 5-4 decision over David White of Binghamton.
In addition to the success of Tasser and Zanetta, Donnie Tasser, Ronnie Garbinsky, Travis Shaffer, Eric Nutter and Geno Morelli also reached the podium.
The Panthers return to the mats on Friday, Feb. 15, when they host Lehigh in the final home dual of the 2012-13 season.
