PITTSBURGH – The No. 17 University of Pittsburgh wrestling team will wrap up its 2013 dual schedule when it heads to McComb Field House to face No. 15 Edinboro in a 7 p.m. bout.
Pitt (8-6, 3-1 EWL) enters the contest coming off a loss to Lehigh. Shelton Mack, Tyler Wilps, Matt WIlps and Zac Thomusseit picked up victories in the contest for the Panthers. On the season, The Panthers have been led by five wrestlers – Mack, Tyler Wilps, Max Thomusseit, Matt Wilps and Zac Thomusseit – who are ranked in the latest Amateur Wrestling News poll.
Edinboro (9-5, 3-1 EWL) is coming off a 31-6 loss at No. 2 Iowa. The Fighting Scots have been paced by a pair of wrestlers – A.J. Schopp and Mitchell Port – who are ranked in the top-5 of their respective weight classes. EU leads the all-time series between the two programs, 16-9, however, the Panthers have taken the last three meetings, including a 26-10 victory last season in Pittsburgh.
The contest between Edinboro and Pitt will also mark the Panthers’ final EWL dual match. Pitt, which has been in the league for the past 38 years, will be joining the ACC in all sports beginning this summer. The Panthers have a 114-117-6 overall dual record in EWL action and captured the EWL Dual Championship in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
