PITTSBURGH-The Eastern Wrestling League Tournament will once again have its finals telecast on a number of cable networks. The EWL Tournament is set for Saturday, March 8, at Pitt's Fitzgerald Field House.
Session 1 is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m., comprised of the first round of the championship bracket, followed by the semifinals and round one of the consolation bracket. Session 2 will start at 5:00 p.m. with the second round of the consolation bracket. The finals are expected to get underway at 7:00 p.m. with award presentations to follow.
It is anticipated that the broadcasts of the EWL Tournament will reach over 32 million households while being distributed through eight affiliates. Panther fans who would like to watch Saturday's event can refer to the schedule of the broadcasts along with the affiliate is listed below. Additional re-air dates are expected to be added.
The host Panthers will honor five wrestling alumni during Saturday's tournament. Mark Bodo, Carl Fronhofer, Rob Loper, John Withrow and current Pitt head wrestling coach Rande Stottlemyer will join two Penn Sate wrestling alumni as the Eastern Wrestling League 2008 Hall of Fame inductees. The EWL will honor these seven prestigious athletes during the Parade of Champions at approximately 6:45 during Saturday's event.
