GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Five members of the No. 10 University of Pittsburgh wrestling team earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestling Team recognition, the ACC announced on Wednesday morning.
The five Panthers receiving the honor gave Pitt more All-ACC wrestlers than any other school, with Virginia and Virginia Tech each notching four selections.
Senior Anthony Zanetta (125), freshman Edgar Bright (141), freshman Mikey Racciato (149), junior Tyler Wilps (174) and junior Max Thomusseit (184) were the worthy All-ACC recipients from Pitt after each advanced to the individual finals at the 2014 ACC Wrestling Championship.
In its first year in the conference, Pitt won all six of its conference duals to win the ACC Dual Meet Championship, finished second at the ACC Championship tournament and received the most All-ACC selections of any team.
Now the Pitt wrestling team’s attention turns to trying to earn All-American honors, with at least six Panthers heading to Oklahoma City for the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship from March 20-22.
Pitt will find out if it receives any at-large bids to nationals during the NCAA Wrestling Selection Show at 6 p.m. Wednesday, which can be watched here.
