OKLAHOMA CITY -- Eight members of the University of Pittsburgh wrestling team will begin competing for individual National Championships and All-American honors when the 2014 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships begin on Thursday, March 20 at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City.
Anthony Zanetta (125), Shelton Mack (133), Edgar Bright (141), Mikey Racciato (149), Tyler Wilps (174), Max Thomusseit (184), Nick Bonaccorsi (197), and P.J. Tasser (HWT) will represent the Panthers, marking the third time in the last four seasons that exactly eight Pitt wrestlers earned berths to nationals.
Pitt boasts an experienced group of wrestlers aiming to better the team's consecutive 15th place team finishes at nationals, with six wrestlers making their return to NCAAs.
Racciato and Bright, both true freshmen, are the two Panthers who will make their debuts at the NCAA Championships. Wilps, Bonaccorsi and Tasser travel to nationals for the second time; Mack and Thomusseit are three-time qualifiers; and Zanetta will wrestle at the pinnacle of college wrestling for the fourth time.
