PITTSBURGH – Senior wrestlers Donnie Tasser, Zac Thomusseit and Matt Wilps were honored at the University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Athletics’ Annual Senior Awards Banquet on Monday evening at the Petersen Events Center.
Wilps took home the prestigious Panther Award. The Panther Award is presented to the graduating senior athletes who have promoted Pitt athletics thorough his/her outstanding athletic achievements.
Thomusseit was named the male recipient of the Blue-Gold Award, which is presented to the graduating male and female student-athlete who have demonstrated the best combination of academic scholarship, athletic achievement, leadership qualities, activities and citizenship.
With their honors, Wilps and Thomusseit will be added to the Varsity Walk on Pitt's campus between the Cathedral of Learning and Heinz Chapel joining former Panther student-athletes who have promoted the University through their athletic and academic accomplishments.
The 2013 senior class was one of the most productive classes in program history combining for 296 wins and helping lead Pitt to six Eastern Wrestling League titles.
