AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. - The Atlantic Coast Conference announced on Thursday morning that the University of Pittsburgh will host the 2015 ACC Wrestling Championship at the Petersen Events Center on March 8, 2015.
In 2013-14, Pitt's first season of ACC competition, the Panthers won the regular-season title and finished second at the ACC Championship. Pitt was one of three ACC schools that finished in the NCWA's Top 25. The Panthers earned a No. 10 ranking from NCWA, followed by No. 12 Virginia and No. 16 Virginia Tech.
The ACC will have six schools that compete in wrestling for the 2014-15 season: Duke, North Carolina, NC State, Pitt, Virginia and Virginia Tech.
The Panthers will once again vie for ACC supremacy with the return of senior All-American Tyler Wilps (174, Oakdale, Pa./Chartiers Valley) and NCAA qualifiers Nick Bonaccorsi (197, Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park), Edgar Bright (141, Cleveland, Ohio/St. Edward), Mikey Racciato (149, Pen Argyl, Pa./Pen Argyl) and Max Thomusseit (184, St. Paris, Ohio/St. Paris Graham).
