PITTSBURGH - University of Pittsburgh senior Matt Wilps, a returning All-American and three-time national qualifier, will travel to Washington, D.C. on Saturday, Nov. 3, to compete in the 47th annual NWCA All-Star Classic. The event, which features 10 matchups of the best wrestlers in the country, will be held at Bender Arena on the campus of American University.
Wilps, who becomes just the fifth Panther to compete in the prestigious event, will face off against Quentin Wright of Penn State in a 197 pound bout, the ninth of 10 matches on the evening.
The list of Panthers who have competed in the All-Star Classic features some of the best wrestlers in Pitt history. Included in that list are the Panthers' past two National Champions Keith Gavin and Pat Santoro, who both competed in the All-Star Classic during their National Championship seasons.
The action will be streamed live on Flo Wrestling beginning at 7:30 p.m. The event will also air tape delayed on Fox College Sports.
