PITTSBURGH - The No. 11 ranked University of Pittsburgh wrestling team travels east for duals with Maryland and No. 1 Penn State.
The dual with the Terrapins will mark the first ACC dual for the Panthers while the PSU dual will take place in-front of a sold out crowd of over 15,000 at the Bryce Jordan Center.
Pitt is coming off a free weekend with only a few grapplers wrestling in open competitions. The Panthers have five wrestlers - Anthony Zanetta (125), Shelton Mack (133), Tyler Wilps (174), Max Thomusseit (184) and P.J. Tasser (285) - in the latest Amateur Wrestling News individual poll.
Maryland is coming off a 1-1 showing at the Grapple at the Garden. The Terps bested Rutgers 19-18 in their first match before dropping a 31-9 contest to No. 6 Cornell.
The Terrapins' roster features four wrestlers - Shyheim Brown (141), Jimmy Sheptock (184), Christian Boley (197) and Spencer Myers (285) - ranked in the latest AWN individual rankings.
Penn State, the three-time defending national champions are 3-0 on the dual season with wins over Rider, Lehigh and Lock Haven.
The Nittany Lions have eight wrestlers ranked in the latest AWN poll. PSU would have their entire 10 man rotation ranked but multiple wrestlers are out due to injuries or suspensions.
Leading the way are three wrestlers who are ranked in the top five of their respective weight classes in Nico Megaludis (125), David Taylor (165) and Matt Brown (174).
The Panthers have a 18-6 lead in the all-time series with the Terrapins including a 23-12 win last season at Fitzgerald Field House. Pitt trails the all-time series with PSU 12-53-3, including a 31-7 home loss last season.
