PITTSBURGH – University of Pittsburgh senior heavyweight wrestler Zac Thomusseit has been named EWL Wrestler of the Week, the Conference announced Sunday morning.

Thomusseit, who has a perfect 11-0 record on the season, garnered the EWL honor after an impressive week where he recorded a pair of conference victories by fall. On Thursday against Cleveland State, Thomusseit pinned Riley Shaw at 2:35. The senior followed up the CSU fall by pinning Clarion’s Phil Catrucco at 6:40 to give Thomusseit his second six-point win in as many days.

Thomusseit becomes the third Panther to take home Wrestler of the Week honors joining Anthony Zanetta, who earned the honor on Dec. 2, and Matt Wilps who took the award on Nov. 4.

The Panthers return to action when they travel to Chicago for the 50th Midlands Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 29, and Sunday, Dec. 30, on the campus of Northwestern.
