Panthers Ready To Tip Off The 2011-12 Season
Ann Marie Porada begins her eighth season as the athletic trainer for the Pitt women's basketball team. Porada's responsibilities include evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation for both women's basketball and cheerleading and dance.
Porada arrived at Pitt in 2009 after a four-year stint at Fordham University. At the Bronx, N.Y. school, she served as the primary athletic trainer for women's soccer, women's basketball, spring football, and cheerleading.
Porada spent one year as assistant athletic trainer at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia where she worked with baseball and assisted with both men's and women's lacrosse teams.
A 2004 graduate of Longwood University with a bachelor's degree in physical education with a concentration in athletic training, Porada spent one year at her alma mater as an assistant athletic trainer. In July of 2006, she received a master's degree in performance enhancement and injury prevention at California University of Pennsylvania.
Porada is a certified NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist as well as a certified member of the National Athletic Trainer's Association (NATA) and the Pennsylvania and Virginia Athletic Trainers Associations. She is also certified by the American Red Cross for CPR and AED for the professional rescuer.
