FRESHMAN SEASON (2006-07)
Ashleigh Braxton broke her career high with 12 points on four three-pointers in the Big East Tournament vs. Marquette...scored eight in the first round win over Cincinnati in the league tournament..scored five points and had three assists in front of her hometown crowd at Georgetown...tied her then-career high of nine points on 3 of 3 from three-point range in win over DePaul...contributed seven points vs. West Virginia...scored eight and had three assists in win at Syracuse...scored a career-best nine points vs. St. John's...gave Pitt a six-point lead in overtime vs. Marquette with a three-pointer in the win...hit a key three-pointer in win over Penn State to give Pitt a 10-point lead down the stretch...scored a then season-best eight points in win at Akron including hitting 2 of 3 from three-point range...came off the bench to contribute 24 big minutes in win over Utah...hit a key three-pointer down the stretch at St. Bonaventure to give Pitt the win...earned her first career start at Duquesne...sunk two free throws at Duquesne with :13 remaining to ice the game...added seven points off the bench in her first collegiate game vs. California (Pa.).
Braxton, a native of Woodbridge, Va., helped Forest Park High School to a Virginia Group AAA championship as a sophomore in 2004, back-to-back regional titles in 2004 and 2005, and three straight Cardinal District championships. The 5-10 shooting guard earned second-team all-state as a junior by the Associated Press. Braxton is also a two-time all-district and all-region honoree and was named Potomac News and Manassas Journal-Messenger All-Area the past two seasons.
A starter at Forest Park since her freshman year, Braxton averaged 10.5 points per game as a sophomore for the Bruins' state championship team and 11.7 as a junior when Forest Park again advanced to the state finals. Her shooting range was evident with a total of 93 three-point field goals over two seasons...Braxton was invited to participate in the adidas Top 10 Camp last summer.
